English for IT B1+ / GSE 43-58 certification is a selected response English-language certification exam that tests a candidate’s ability to communicate in English at the intermediate level (CEFR B1+ / GSE 43-58). It specifically tests a candidate’s knowledge of the structure of the language (i.e. grammar, syntax, and semantics) and a candidate’s ability to read and listen in English.
The certification holder is able to read and listen within the field of IT to an intermediate level, as well as understand and effectively use all the grammar and vocabulary of the intermediate level pertaining to the field of IT, in particular the fields of software development, security engineering, network engineering, product management and customer and technical support.
Becoming certified in English for IT B1+ / GSE 43-58 ensures that the individual possesses a level of English that is sufficient to understand the English language within an IT context in simple situations, and to communicate at an intermediate level in subjects related to the field of IT. The certification furthermore enables the individual to continue to a higher level of English language learning in order to become more proficient in the use of the English language.
Once an individual has passed English for IT B1+ / GSE 43-58, he or she is ready to study English at an upper-intermediate level, and is well on the way to being ready for the upper-intermediate certification exam English for IT B2 / GSE 59-75.
